Rust, Corshen

This movie had created quite a buzz all over the world. But since I haven't seen it, I'm not quite sure what the buzz is about except for the much talked-about explicit sex scenes that our closeted chinese society, still deeply rooted in prissy confucianistic decorum and idealogy, got all excited about, as if that was all there was to the movie.

But seeing that it won Ang Lee a second Golden Lion in Venice I guess it wasn't your average R-rated movie, or rather, it truly was a R(Artisitic) movie in every sense of the word.

Reading Ang Lee's interview, I realised once again that there exists a level of artistry that I will never begin to comprehend.

Unrepentance

Today, the teaching profession scored a victory over unrepentant students and recalcitrant parents.

A 17 year old student who hurled vulgarities at his teacher was ordered by a community judge to write a letter to apologise to her and explain his actions, and he must be sincere.

That's the way to go! If unrepentant parents refuse to discipline their children and refuse to let their teachers discipline them, then the student should not be given the luxury of a second chance after making a mistake in school. Call the cops and send them to the slammer.

Just hope MOE don't do something silly like discipline the teacher and further undermine the authority of the teaching profession.
